This 5-song CD features thirty Vermont Musicians, including Nancy Beavan, Jon Gailmor, Dick McCormack, and Joanne "Little Joyce" Cooper among others. The songs are updated versions of well known folk/protest songs from the 50s and 60s, including Oh Freedom, The Banks of Marble, Where Have All the Flowers Gone, This Land is Your Land, and We Shall Overcome. Bernie Sanders performs some of the key lyrics himself in a talking-blues style, and he also delivers original narratives related to the music.
This landmark recording brought together the Vermont Music scene in 1987 for a common cause. Everyone involved donated time and talent to the project.
