Come on in to enjoy the imaginative art of Kristin Richland and Karen Witt. We booksellers have been raving about their line-up of evocative and whimsical pieces. Kristin Richland adds, "We're pretty pleased with how they look together, almost making a story line from day to night."
A Vermont native, in 1999 Kristin Richland received her BFA in Painting from the Maine College of Art. While in Portland, she was represented by Filament Gallery, exhibiting small soft-sculptures and drawings. John Lonergan.Experience the fascinating life of John Lonergan: The Potato Famine led to the uprising of 1848 near his home town of Carrick on Suir, County Tipperary, and his immigration as a boy to Vermont. Lonergan's dedication to the liberation of Ireland from British rule brought him into the Fenian Brotherhood, where he joined with other militant nationalists. Lonergan formed Vermont's only ethnic military unit, the Emmet Guards, which served as Company A, 13th Vermont, in the Civil War. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for gallantry in the Battle of Gettysburg, leading the charge of the Vermont regiments against Pickett's forces on July 3, 1863. After the war...

Archer Mayor is the 2004 winner of the New England Booksellers Association award for best fiction - the first time a writer of crime literature has been so honored. He is the author of the highly acclaimed, Vermont-based series featuring detective Joe Gunther, which the Chicago Tribune describes as "the best police procedural being written in America."
