Ron Patch: Local History (Fall Festival)

Event date:
Saturday, September 16, 2017 - 1:00pm to 3:00pm

Join Ron Patch, author of Local History, for a meet-and-greet and book signing.

ABOUT THE BOOK:  Ron Patch’s book Local History is a compilation of stories he has written since 2013 for the Vermont Journal and Shopper newspapers. Most stories revolve around area historical events or individuals. Others are just plain fun, and even share real life experiences of the author. Many towns covered by the articles are based in Windsor and Windham Counties; included are the towns of Springfield, Chester, Bellows Falls, Rockingham, Londonderry, Grafton, Peru, Andover and Westminster and others. You will learn about some of Vermont’s earliest settlers, as well as a few real “interesting” characters. Over 115 stories are included in the 282 page book.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:  Ron Patch is a lifelong native of Chester, Vermont, and has been an antiques dealer for the past 47 years. While working in his antiques business, he became interested in the history of the antiques he bought and sold, and how these objects relate to Vermont culture. Through this work, Patch has come to learn and understand the history of old Vermont and its inhabitants. He has collected numerous books and documents he has found concerning Vermont’s history, and has given many talks on Vermont history in area towns. Patch is a weekly columnist for the Vermont Journal and Shopper newspapers, writing the local history of area towns. As of this writing, he continues to expand his antiques business, and as a point of note, he is the president of the Chester Historical Society.
