To celebrate National Poetry Month, we invite you to join us for an evening of reading and listening to the art of poets of color. Poetry has always broken down barriers, defying expectations as it eludes simplistic definitions. With lyrical cadences inspired by cultures not ordinarily celebrated in mainstream culture, these works invite us to open ourselves up to new thoughts and experiences. So we are celebrating the contributions of poets of color by inviting the public to read and reflect upon their favorite works or to come hear new poetry. Participants can choose from a selection, bring their favorite poem, or just listen!
Sponsored by the Rutland Area branch of the NAACP, which is dedicated to the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminating race-based discrimination in Vermont. Questions: Contact firstname.lastname@example.org
This event is free and open to all.
