Join Mary Holland to celebrate Children's Book Week! Mary Holland will talk about how she became a naturalist/writer/photographer and will share some large photos and/or animal artifacts. She'll also read Otis the Owl and take questions from the audience.
ABOUT THE BOOKS:
Naturally Curious Day by Day: This follow-up to Naturally Curious, a National Outdoor Book Award winner, is a day-by-day account of nature observations throughout the year. Daily entries include entertaining and enlightening observations about specific animal or plant activity happening in eastern North America on that date. Set up as a naturalist's journal, entries describe in detail sightings and events in the natural world and are accompanied by stunning color photographs of birds, animals, insects, plants, and more. Essays throughout describe specific events in nature happening during each month, while sidebars supply natural history facts and information pertinent to the topics of the month or the time of year.
Otis the Owl: In beautifully detailed photographs, Mary Holland captures the first few months of a baby owl’s life. The huge eyes and fluffy feathers will steal the hearts of readers as they learn how barred owl parents ready their young owlets for the big world outside the nest. Follow along as Otis learns to eat, fights with his sister, and prepares for flight.
