Llama Llama Loves to Read *Book Launch*

Event date:
Saturday, May 12, 2018 - 11:00am

This May, Llama returns in his first story since the passing of beloved author and illustrator Anna Dewdney in Llama Llama Loves to Read. Join us to celebrate this new adventure focused on a love of listening, lettering, and of course learning to read. Reed Duncan will join us for a Llama Llama Loves to Read story time, then we'll do activities and get to meet Llama Llama!

ABOUT THE BOOK:  Throughout the school day, teacher and friends help Llama discover the wonder of alphabet and how letters come together to make beautiful sounds and words for reading. Dewdney’s patented rhyme scheme and familiar characters are music to parents’ ears as they introduce their children to the joys of reading alongside Llama. Before she passed away from cancer in 2016, Dewdney laid the groundwork for several books to be published posthumously. With the help of her partner Reed Duncan and illustrator JT Morrow, Llama Llama Loves to Read is an important part of Dewdney’s lifelong dream to spread the joy of reading. JT Morrow illustrated this story in the style of Anna’s artwork and is honored to continue her legacy.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:  Anna Dewdney was the author and illustrator of the bestselling Llama Llama books and most recently Little Excavator. As a teacher, mother, and proponent of reading aloud to children, Anna found inspiration for her writing and painting throughout her world, including her two daughters, her partner Reed Duncan, and her beloved dogs.

Books in her #1 New York Times bestselling Llama Llama series, which have twenty million copies in print worldwide, include Llama Llama Red Pajama, Llama Llama Holiday Drama, Llama Llama Misses Mama, Llama Llama Time to Share, Llama Llama Gram and Grandpa and several others. Llama Llama Red Pajama recently went viral after Ludacris rapped the book live on a Los Angeles radio show to the tune of 3.6 million views as of January 2018. Llama Llama Red Pajama has been adapted by Dolly Parton for a musical performed at Dollywood and was also chosen as Jumpstart’s Read for the Record book in 2011, setting the world benchmark for the most readings of a single book in one day.
