Laurie McCammon: Enough!

Thursday, September 29, 2016 - 7:00pm
Event address:
191 Bank Street
Burlington, VT 05401

Have you wondered why, no matter what you achieve or buy, the feeling of not being enough and not having enough keeps returning again and again?

Have you ever noticed that "I am not enough" and "I don't have enough" are virtually universal beliefs in our society, contributing to depression, addiction, hopelessness, fear, separation and even violence?

Are you concerned that humanity is consuming far too much, placing a dangerous and accelerating burden on the planet?

Join author Laurie McCammon, MS as she traces the origin of the "Never Enough" story, how almost no one has been immune to it, how it makes us think and behave in maladaptive and even dangerous ways. Most importantly, she reveals how to break through to the larger story told by the entire cosmos, which for 13.8 billion years has been an "Enough" Story.

The evening's program will begin with a brief talk, followed by a mediation video to experience "Enough" first hand, and then a circle discussion to share our experiences.  We end the evening with practical hands-on things we can do to let go of the "Never Enough" Story and to flow with the arising "Enough" Story, unleashing deep satisfaction, self-appreciation, meaning and abundance into our lives.  Plus, attendees will receive a free Enough companion guidebook download.

ABOUT THE BOOK:  Do you, like so many of us, believe that you will never have enough time, money, talent, or love to be truly happy? Do you think you're not good enough, not rich enough or thin enough or smart enough, to have the life you want? Or that the problems in your community and the world around you could be solved if only there were more to go around? Everywhere, all the time, we get this message that there is something lacking, something more, something better to strive for. In fact, the idea that there isn't enough or you aren't enough is so deeply ingrained in us and into our culture that it holds sway over pretty much every aspect of our lives, from how we perceive our self-worth and our skills as parents, friends, and partners (I am not enough) to the ways in which we are taught and governed.

But what if it's a lie? Author and activist Laurie McCammon wrote this book to show you that it is all a lie. Discover how your own never-enough thinking has been limiting you and how to challenge it in all the places it lurks. Let Laurie show you how to develop a sense of enoughness that can change not only how you feel about yourself but how you view time, your relationships, your work, and the possibilities for helping to shape a better world.
