Join Onion River Press and Phoenix Books Burlington to celebrate the launch of I Live in the Land of Apples, the poignant memoir by Charlotte author, JoAnna Blaine Easton.
ABOUT THE BOOK: Compelled to make sense of her life's mysteries, Easton's memoir outlines the detective work, joys and struggles involved in understanding that life. As a photographer and poet, her keen experience began early and lingers still, guided by an inner compass developed to field loneliness and difference. The outer world of a bi-ethnic home life, learning and mastery, years of living abroad, interests and accomplishments dazzle and puzzle her by turns. Original poems bring a lyrical flow to a more-or-less linear timeline. Easton's education and career as an Educational Therapist add the crispness of science -- neurology, psychology, and cognition underpin her career. Motherhood, gardening, and yoga soften the edges, while physicality and adventure add fire to the adventure. The range and depth of her inquiry structures the memoir and offers an eclectic survival-map of sorts. The Land of Apples is a translation of Mazraat el Toufah, the village in Lebanon where her father hails from, where she lives in spirit.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Author JoAnna Blaine Easton lives and works in Charlotte, Vermont, in the company of her two labs, Rumi and Roxy.
ADMISSION: This event is free and open to all.
