ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Jan Johnsen began her professional life working in a landscape architecture office in Osaka, Japan. She then learned European horticulture techniques from a Versailles-trained French gardener at Mohonk Mountain House in NY. For over 30 years, Jan and her husband have created distinctive landscapes through their award-winning firm, Johnsen Landscapes & Pools (www.johnsenlandscapes.com).
