Join Bill Mares and Todd Haire for a talk on their new book, Making Beer.

ABOUT THE BOOK:  To have your own brewery is the dream of almost every home brewer. Bill Mares was one of those, but he had to wait 40 years to meet and join up with Todd Haire, a real brewer, for this dream to become real. This book takes brewing full circle from Bill the amateur, making inadvertently wild beers, to Todd the professional, brewing first-class mixed-culture wild and funky beers in oak barrels, using mixed-culture fermentation. Together, they offer a delightful journey through the craft-brewing revolution of the last four decades.

Raised in Texas, educated at Harvard, Bill Mares has been a homebrewer for over forty years. He has been a reporter, high school teacher, state representative and has authored or co-authored fifteen books. His hobbies include beekeeping, singing, and running.

Raised in Texas, educated at the Siebel Institute, Todd Haire has brewed professionally for over twenty years, including stints as head brewer at Magic Hat and Switchback breweries. In his career, he has visited more than a hundred breweries in the U.S. and Europe. His hobbies include fermenting food, beekeeping, and music.
