Originally published in 1982, this is a timeless story of two teenage girls coming to terms with their sexualities after meeting at the Met in NYC. A gentle, compassionate lesbian love story that acknowledges the challenges of accepting one's queerness but also the rewards of loving someone truthfully. Helped me come to terms with my own sexuality as a teen when I picked it up at an indie bookstore.

I feel right at home with tough-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside lesbian witch Sideways and the stereotype-defying girl(friend) group that essentially adopts her. Clarke's prose is beautiful in the strangest way and her dialogue has a real Buffy affect to it. SO GOOD.

This is my favorite book, ever. Bray's premise, teen pageant girls stranded on a hostile island, is executed with satire, humor, and heart. Among many other quirks, this novel features James Bond-esque tropes, hilarious "commercial breaks" from an evil corporation, and himbo pirates. The female main cast is diverse in a way that doesn’t feel like a checklist–the trans representation in particular feels ahead of its time. Just as it took quarantine for so many people to reflect on their lives, it takes a deserted island for these young women to embrace their true selves.

A nonbinary vampire kid believes that they’re bad news and accepts a life beholden to an evil witch. When a found family begins to form around them, including very cool witch/vampire girlfriends and two quirky young pals, they start to wonder if they could be good after all. A charming children’s graphic novel whose goofy but philosophical art and humor remind me of "Adventure Time" at its best.

A cozy sapphic story with Halloween vibes! Perfect for fans of Studio Ghibli films and "The Owl House". My favorite kind of magical realism–witches, monsters, and blob ghosts who all hang out at the mall.

A lesbian coming-of-age graphic novel about toxic relationships, the importance of friends, and difficult queer experiences that aren’t coming out or being hatecrimed. Definitely made me tear up once or twice.

Think "Heathers" and "Mean Girls" with sapphic Californian werewolves. Lesbian and bisexual representation, fabulous fashion, and a killer sense of dark humor. Perfect graphic novel triple-threat: design, colors, and writing are all spectacular.

This book made me fall in love with graphic novels. Depressed misfit Anya falls into a well and frees the ghost within it, accepting her offer to turn Anya into a better version of herself. The ghost has secrets, though, and her dark past causes a nightmare of a present for Anya as she struggles to reclaim her identity and protect the people she loves.

I really liked Book #1 of this series, but I LOVED Book #2! It's hard to describe the plot without spoilers, but it takes everything I enjoyed about Gideon the Ninth–unreliable narration, snarky lesbians, and bad puns--and cranks it up to 100. Some heart-soaring and breath-taking moments with the coolest set-up and payoff I’ve ever read.
