When her daughter begins to exhibit strange behavior echoing a darkness in the family, a mother with an unthinkable past must return to her family home in the Mojave desert to set things right. Sundial is an unflinchingly grotesque look into survival, motherhood, and sisterhood, with claws to match. Catriona Ward deftly layers the tension with a dark family legacy that echoes throughout the generations. An estranged mother-daughter duo takes the center stage, with a brilliant contrast of love and fear. Cat Ward is a rising star in horror for a reason and you're sure to leave this with more than a few scars.

A STUDY IN DROWNING is a YA gothic mystery novel perfect for fall with its “dark academia” undertones and rich atmospheric settings. The main protagonist, Effy Sayre, is the only female student at an otherwise all-male Llyrian school for architecture. Her first choice is the school of literature, however, due to the glaring misogyny of the board, no women are allowed admittance. Forced into complacency, Effy is excited when a contest to design the manor of Myrddin, the recently deceased author and beloved Llyr author of her favorite novel “Angharad” is advertised on campus. Ava Reid's prose is gorgeous and haunting. The exploration of pain, trauma, and bravery against your inner demons, or the chance to stand up against certain injustices in ASID skyrockets it into a sort of timeless piece of literature that can be revisited whenever one is faced with mounting dread, paralysis, or crippling inertia. Ava Reid takes your hand and shows you how there is a soft place to land in literature and that your voice matters–your story matters, and you are not alone. I loved this novel so much, and I can't wait for the world to read it!

This book was so good that I’ve decided to accept it as my version of “canon” Ilead - trans woman Achilles, devious Helen, badass Amazons, and the richest prose I’ve read in some time. This is a masterwork of trans historical reimagination, vibrant and sensual and fantastic in all senses of the word.

Not even sure where to start - I loved this book for so many reasons! Lesbian romance, first year of college woes, nerdy excitement, a badass 96-year-old landlady, corgi booties… a delightfully real picture of early adulthood.

This sci-fi romance adventure was so fun! I loved Dow’s “The Sound of Stars” and this standalone sequel did not disappoint. Joy and Felix are star-crossed soulmates, aliens from different planets and social standings, but when the unthinkable happens and they launch a daring escape, they crash land on earth… in Florida! I loved everything about this and will be reading everything Dow writes from now on.

With a funny & natural character voice, Aceves' debut had me laughing out loud, gasping, and actually yelling about some choices Quique makes. For #disasterbi teens everywhere - these characters are messy in a real and relatable way!
