This gorgeous book is a gentle and insightful tool for anyone who would like to connect with plants on an intuitive level. Highly recommended for those who enjoy working with tarot, for herbalists, and for anyone who feels most at peace or enlivened in the garden, woods, or fields. The cards are an excellent complement to the book. The 36 plants chosen include many herbalists' most beloved species, and will be familiar to gardeners and nature lovers as well.

— From The Illustrated Herbiary, by Maia Toll

Description

Rosemary is for remembrance; sage is for wisdom. The symbolism of plants — whether in the ancient Greek doctrine of signatures or the Victorian secret language of flowers — has fascinated us for centuries. Contemporary herbalist Maia Toll adds her distinctive spin to this tradition with profiles of the mysterious personalities of 36 herbs, fruits, and flowers. Combining a passion for plants with imagery reminiscent of tarot, enticing text offers reflections and rituals to tap into each plant’s power for healing, self-reflection, and everyday guidance. Smaller versions of the illustrations are featured on 36 cards to help guide your thoughts and meditations.

Praise For…

“In this delightful debut, Toll relies on her imagination to spin a fun botanical mythology. O’Hara’s bright, bold illustrations—which introduce each entry and are also included as a divination deck—will appeal to readers with strong lines and a sense of glowing from their centers, a boldness that carries through to the more representational sketches of plants that follow. It will appeal to those looking for fun new ways of considering plants.” — Publishers Weekly
