Bill Mares & Todd Haire: Making Beer
Tuesday, March 14, 2017 - 6:30pm
Join Bill Mares and Todd Haire for a talk on their new book, Making Beer.
ABOUT THE BOOK: To have your own brewery is the dream of almost every home brewer. Bill Mares was one of those, but he had to wait 40 years to meet and join up with Todd Haire, a real brewer, for this dream to become real. This book takes brewing full circle from Bill the amateur, making inadvertently wild beers, to Todd the professional, brewing first-class mixed-culture wild and funky beers in oak barrels, using mixed-culture fermentation. Together, they offer a delightful journey through the craft-brewing revolution of the last four decades.
"Why does beer mean so much to so many of us? Why is it so fundamental to hospitality and sociability? This journey to Vermont and beyond with William Mares—a gentle and charming guide—has helped me understand. From his first-hand experiences, disasters and all, I have learned as much about human needs, aspirations and quirks as I did about the making of beer."
—Michael Jackson, author of The World Guide to Beer
