This is a humorous and sometimes poignant collection of stories from one of the funniest and satirical writers out there. Many of his essays and stories draw humor from his embarrassing or silly situations. Great book if you need a good laugh.

Margaret Atwood at her best! Written like a diary from the point of view of Offred, we see the effect that a fundamentalist theocracy has had on the United States and the citizens who were forced to become part of it. Absolutely fantastic read.

"Syria: Remember Me is the most important book of the season.  It may be one of the most important books of our time.  Through photographs, author Deborah Felmeth reminds us in a critical way what it means to be human.  Critical because she shows us Syrians whose goodness is easily forgotten.  She reminds us that there are places in this world that are being destroyed and therefore people whose lives are being shredded.
"Our media would have us believe that human beings, Syrians in this example, are to be feared.  I do not believe that this is true.  I believe that it is vitally important to know about and speak of a story that is being ignored."

Syria: Remember Me bears witness in both words and images to the strong, dignified, beautiful, and complex lives of the Syrian people—from the fertile Euphrates River Valley to the wide-open expanse of the great Syrian Desert, and from the maze of overflowing markets to the spacious interiors of gold-domed mosques.

The photographs in this collection were taken over two decades, between 1991 and 2011, and precede the devastating war that now sweeps the beleaguered land. Today, the daily images of Syria that the media thrusts before us reveal only devastation, grief, rage, and the victimhood of war. The author hopes to hearten that view and encourage readers toward a more humanizing encounter. Turn the pages and gaze into the eyes of Syrians young and old, humble and proud, engaged in the simple miracle of living an everyday life at peace.

This fascinating book is packed with kitchen survival skills that you'll find indispensible as soon as you know how to do them.  Andrea Chesman (a Vermont author!) has a wonderful way of making once-intimidating tasks approachable.  I'll bet anyone could find some useful information in this book, but it's an especially good pick for aspiring homesteaders and others that would like to be more self-sufficient but haven't known where to start.

If we're up the creek, then Elizabeth Warren is our paddle! It doesn't feel like there's a lot of people in government fighting for the little people these days, but Senator Warren is a very loud exception! A great choice for fans of politics, progressive thought, or memoir. Her language is folksy and engaging.

My boyfriend bought this book for me for my 21st birthday and I have been obsessed with this dang cat ever since. I sobbed my way through the two books (the sequel being: The World According to Bob) and look forward to reading the Christmas one soon. As an avid lover of all things cat, I was hooked instantly and I can't wait for the movie they're filming because Instagram photos aren't enough. Such an adorable (and heart wrenching) story, and I hope to meet Bob on my next trip to London.

I was in New York City the day the news broke in July 2013 that JK Rowling had written a new book under a pseudonym. My friends and I instantly started calling every Barnes and Noble in mid-to-lower manhattan to locate this book. No luck. So I called the Barnes and Noble near my house in MA and they had one left. Then I proceeded to not read it for 2 years. I'm crazy, I know. When I finally read it in September 2015, I devoured it. I finished it faster than I finished Deathly Hallows and I read Deathly Hallows in 5.5 hours. One of the best books I've read in a while. The two main characters are so incredibly written that you're always begging for more information about their backstory (which you get as the series goes on). I don't normally read mystery books, but I'm usually very good about having a slight inkling as to who murdered who while reading, but I was shocked. SHOCKED.
