Stephen King is a born story-teller, and Joyland reads like a camp-fire tale. The plot will feel vaguely familiar as both a mystery and ghost story, but the skill with which it is written makes that familiarity feel likeit enhances rather than detracts. I really enjoyed reading it!

Banished is a fascinating and heart-wrenching read. We've become
so familiar with Westboro's public face, but now Lauren Drain gives us a
glimpse into what it's like to live as part of the church--from the
exhilaration of "doing something that matters" to the excruciating fear
of damnation and rejection. I'm in awe of her strength to survive a
living hell.
