NATIONAL EXPOSURE, INDIE STYLE

Phoenix Books is now reporting sales to the New York Times Bestseller List!  We already report to the New England Independent Booksellers Association bestseller list, which you can find in both the Burlington Free Press and the Wall Street Journal.  We also contribute to the Indie Next List, which you might be familiar with from our in-store display.  What does this mean for you?  Your purchases at Phoenix Books influence national trends, contributing to the success of your favorite books!  Now visiting authors have the unique opportunity for national exposure while supporting your own local, indie bookstore.  To learn more, or to set up an author event, contact us at 872-7111 or by email.

STORE & CAFE UPDATES

We'll be welcoming Terence Hawkins, author of the new novel The Rage of Achilles, on March 13th at 6:30pm.  On the 25th at 6:30 pm, join us to hear Newsweek war correspondent Michael Hastings speak about his new memoir, I Lost My Love in Baghdad.  And don't forget to keep an eye out for the dozen or so events we have in the works for April!

Phoenix Books & Cafe is offering light breakfast options!  There's something for everyone, ranging from a simple bowl of oatmeal with brown sugar and dried fruit to a Phoenix Omelet - with many scrumptious choices in between.  Breakfast will be served until 11:30 am Monday through Saturday, and we'll continue to offer our popular lunch items throughout the rest of the day.

Beloved New Yorker cartoonist and children's illustrator Harry Bliss with a fan.

Speaking of Indies...
"And there’s something else about independent bookstores. Something important. They keep writers like me, and hundreds of others, going. They don’t overload their stock with just the best sellers. Most of my favorite writers – Richard Russo, Chris Bohjalian, Annie Proulx, Richard Ford, Ivan Doig – got their start in independent bookstores. What’s more, by championing freedom of speech, our constitutional right to privacy, and freedom of the press, the indies help preserve America’s precious political and cultural heritage. Thank you, independent booksellers!"  --Howard Frank Mosher  (read the entire text)
